EE M&A Director Magazine would like to thank all those that attended the 2nd annual CEE Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Awards ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Warsaw.
Now in its second year, the glittering awards ceremony looked fantastic, and was attended by an ensemble cast of merger and acquisition executives from all over the region, who applauded all the finalists across the 15 categories as the prestigious trophies were handed out to loud cheers from winners and their guests.
A sell-out crowd of top M&A professionals gathered for the event in the Intercontinental hotel’s Hemisphere room to witness the presentation of the prizes for outstanding achievement in the M&A sector.
Abris Capital Partners and Coast2Coast Capital dominated the Private Equity Awards. Coast2Coast picked up not only the prize for Best Cross-border Deal for their acquisition of Sunwave Pharm in Romania, but also the award for the Best Private Equity deal with their acquisition of Profi in Poland. Abris Capital Partners where voted best Private Equity Firm and also won Exit of the Year with their deinvestment from the Mykogen Group. BaltCap once again collected the Venture Capital Firm of the Year award. The Professional of the Year prize went to Adam Pietruszkiewicz from Coast2Coast Capital while Investment Bank of the Year was accepted by EBRD.
In addition to the traditional M&A awards, a host of prizes were awarded to a variety of M&A consultancy and services companies for their professional and excellence in the sector. For example, this year the CEE M&A Awards featured several new law firm categories, recognising the professionalism and expertise of international law practices, including Dentons Europe as Global Law Firm, Gessel as best Poland Law Firm, Mrowiec Fiałek and Partners for Boutique Law Firm and Glimstedt as the best Regional Law Firm.
Other service sector and advisory winners included Drooms for Professional Service Provider, White & Case as Tax & Financial Advisory Firm, Pwc for M&A Advisory Firm, and Marsh collected the M&A Insurance Firm of the Year award.
At a glance around 150 senior decision makers from the M&A sector were in attendance. Primarily the awards recognized companies and individuals who had demonstrated the best overall performance during the past year as well as the outstanding efforts and achievements of all those involved in identifying, coordinating and completing the important deals, which have produced consistent results, and the potential to change the fate of businesses and industries throughout the region.

Abris Capital Partners exits Mykogen Group
In November 2012 Abris acquired a majority stake in Mykogen Group, the leading producer of mushroom substrate in Central and Eastern Europe. The Company offers both Phase III and Phase II substrate in bulk and in bags with total annual production exceeding 150kt. From its two production facilities Mykogen is well located to serve the largest and most professional mushroom growers. Poland is the largest and one of the most rapidly expanding production markets for mushrooms in Europe. Mykogen was sold by Abris in November 2017.
